I am a Nassau Country girl so am unfamiliar with the South Shore Mall. Can anyone tell me about the Disney Store there? Is it big? Has it been redone recently like the Roosevelt Field one?
I ask because we weren't going to stop anywhere for pictures between church and hall but was looking at other couples from our photographer that went to a carnival and another that went to starbucks. We love Disney, so I thought it would be really cute to get some pictures in the Disney store with all the stuffed animals and toys etc. It might be tight for time though so it might not work out but wanted to explore the option!

its not HUGE like roosevelt fields, but its not a tiny store per say. there is def some room to it

there's room, but I'm going to be 100% honest with you and say it's probably not a place you'd want to stop. I grew up in Bay Shore (lived there for 25 years) and I RARELY ever went there because it's a sketchy place. I was there twice during gang initiations, when people got stabbed and whatnot. That was a few years back (probably 8 or so?), but it's still not someplace I usually go.

Definitely not a picturesque place by any means and the store probably would not allow it.
What about Nunley's carousel in Hempstead?

Jess, I realize you said you used to live in Bayshore, I live about 2 towns away from Bayshore (I'm in Babylon)... I mean, the area isn't WONDERFUL (and I have heard about gang initiations, etc there as well), but I've never been afraid of going to the Southshore Mall during the day or on a weekend. Unfortunately I rarely go there nowadays because there are NO stores in that mall haha.... I really don't want to shop at 'Too Cute', etc!
The Disney store there definitely isn't as big as the one in Roosevelt, but it's big enough, the size of any regular mall Disney store.... if that makes sense? haha

Lol yea there really isn't much in the mall. I'm not saying Bay Shore is a bad area, but the mall isn't exactly that nice. Plus, it's just not the type of place I'd want to go in my wedding dress!

I also live in Bay Shore. I wouldn't say the mall is bad. In fact, I have a friend who used to live down the block from it and never had issues. I guess I am just jaded by living so close to Brentwood. While I never had issues, I understand why others may worry. lol
