They're both more the conference type hotels of Disney. Very nice, but not as 'vacation-oriented' as the other Disney hotels. They have a lot of conference rooms in each of these hotels. They cater to big meetings, etc.

Re: Disney Swan or Dolphin hotel...
When I was in Disney my DH and I went to a lot of the hotels, just to take a look around and see what they were like.
From what we could tell, the Dolphin had a busier bar and night life. The Swan was nice, too, but quieter.
I agree that they seem like more conference-y hotels than the other resorts. But they were BOTH very nice. I think I preferred the Swan, though.

Re: Disney Swan or Dolphin hotel...
hey Christy, when are you going down? My sister still works there! She is mostly in EPCOT. Believe it or not, the Swan and Dolphin are the two hotels that I am least familliar with. Sorry! Are you stuck on staying at one of them? They have less of a Disney feel, but still nice.

Re: Disney Swan or Dolphin hotel...
Thanks ladies...
Nancy, we are staying there for Christmas. Tom and I got engaged at Christmas 2 years ago, and we want to go back. It was awesome spending Christmas there. This time we are looking to save some money and found an awesome deal at both the swan and dolphin. So, for this trip we will be staying at one of those.
I know there is a less disney feel, but we will be in the parks each day. So, I am just looking for cheaper accomodations.

Re: Disney Swan or Dolphin hotel...
I totally agree with why you'd want to stay there. You go to WDW to go to the parks, not stay in your room! I would love to spend a night at the Grand Floridian, but I'd never be there!
Anyway, my sister Charlene works there. (All grown up!!) Lets just say shes 'good friends with Princess Jasmine'. Thats what she does there!! Princess Jasmine and Aladdin are in Morocco signing autographs so if you get a chance to go over, she'd love to see you. Also, she and a bunch of her friends do a character breakfast in Norway. I dont know if Tom would be into it, but its good. As you can see, nothing has changed with my Disney Obsession!!
I hope you have a good time!!

Re: Disney Swan or Dolphin hotel...
I think the difference is location. Both of my parents used to work for Disney in travel reservations. I'll ask them when I talk to them tomorrow.

Re: Disney Swan or Dolphin hotel...
Both the hotels are very similar and share alot of the amenities. They are very nice..just don't have that cutesy disney feel like the other onsite hotels.
All the rooms in the Swan were just redone so I'd stay there. Your right the deal they have going on is great. We're going down in September and are tossing up whether to stay there also : ).

Re: Disney Swan or Dolphin hotel... (update)
OMG!!!!!!!!!! The deal got even better, they give additional discounts there if you are a teacher! So now, we can get an upgraded room for 129$ a nt!
My husband just booked it, now we will stay there for 10 nights (much longer than my honeymoon...LOL)
If anyone wants to FM me I will tell you all the ways we are saving money to go on this trip!
