Disney too expensive...Where can we stay in Maine?

We decided that right now Disney is too expensvie for our anniversary. We decided to drive up to Maine. I have never been there so I am very excited plus I love the fall!!!!!

Where can we stay? We would like to go to Bar Harbor Maine we think. Any suggestions?

I go up to Kennebunkport all the time to visit one of my best friends. I love it up there... the ocean and mountians. Plenty of things to do especially if you love the outdoors. Theres outlets, nature preserves, the beach... its a cozy little town and everyone is so nice. Its about 5 -6 hours to get up there and its like 4 exits into Maine.

There are many beautiful places in Maine to stay...My suggestion is to stay on the coast. Are you going to be there in November??? The temperatures tend to get chilly after the 3rd week in October...Camden & Boothbay Harbor are very nice places...Camden has TONS of bed & breakfasts that are just charming...

Disney is not always as expensive as people think. We travel to WDW all the time but only with discounts. Right now they are offering a FREE dining plan for visits through October. We are a family of 5 and we will be eating for free for 10 days! We also drive to cut down on costs. Gotta love all that 'bonding' time on the drive down.

Check out Mousesavers.com for any discounts Disney currently has going on. They will also list any airfare sales and all other Disney deals. I even got a coupon for 1/2 price sundaes at Ghiradellis in Downtown Disney.

I don't believe there are any deals out right now for the general public for November. There are only annual passholder room rates available. Sometimes it's worth it to purchase just one annual pass (AP) to get the savings on the room rate. There are some other advantages to buying the AP, discounts on meals, some purchases and free parking. We get AP's just because we know we will plan 2 trips before our AP's expire and this way we don't have to pay for park admissions again.

Keep checking mousesavers for deals. They will post them as soon as they are available. I'll keep an eye out for November and if I see anything, I'll let you know!
