Has anyone been to one of these? It's a bridal shower but the guests bring unwrapped gifts so the bride-to-be does not open the gifts at the shower. Instead the gifts are displayed for all to see. The point of it so that everyone can have more time to socialise etc etc.
I have never been to this type of shower. My mom is doing it like this for my sister's shower. I'm on the fence as to whether I like it or not. Im more of a traditionalist so I think I would want to open the gifts at my shower. Also this kind of shower you can't play bridal bingo or make the bow hat.
Has anyone ever been to a shower like this and did you like it?

Re: Display Showers
Honestly, I wish my mother would let me do this! She's very traditional, I'm not that much. For me though, it's more about not being the center of attention and having people stare at me as I open presents.

Re: Display Showers
I hear ya on the center of attention thing bc I don't like being the center of attention either but I feel like if the gifts are not being opened a) they are just sitting there so people are more interested in eyeing the gifts than focusing on the bride or other people (which kind if defeats the purpose of this kind of shower) and b) I imagine it would get pretty boring after a while. You can only play so many games.
I also think it is nice to open a gift and personally receive a thank you and a reaction.
On the flipside, I do think the shower should be more about the bride and not just the gifts. Regular showers tend to be so much more gift-centered.

Re: Display Showers
It sounds like a time-saving idea but I would def prefer to open the gifts at my bridal shower. My mom is super traditional though, so I'm sure I will! LOL

I haven't been to one like this, but I have always been curious about it. What do you do instead of opening gifts? Showers can be terribly boring even with games. Has anyone been to a fun or interesting shower?

I am not a fan of the 'Peek-a-boo' showers. Half the fun is the bridal assembly line to unwrap and I want my ribbon hat!!!! I'm so cheese, but i LOVE the shower games

this! anyone coming to my shower will be coming from out of state or putnam valley and beyond, as we only have a very small amount of relatives & friends left on LI. I'd much rather have more time to socialize with them - and also to not be on display! Plus, I write entire card-length Thank You notes so they should be okay with it
