Dissapointed (vent)

I just found out my Aunt and Uncle and 2 cousins (mind you my ONLY aunt, uncle and 2 cousins) will NOT be attending my engagement party. They live in Texas - so I can understand not wanting to make a big fuss and come up here but they made my mother change the party date to accomdate them! This was NOT an ideal time for us to have the party but we changed it because it really meant a lot to me to have them there. (Mind you they insisted that we all make my cousin's engagement party - so this really upsets me. And we flew in for the night - in my 1st year of school with papers that I had due) The reason they can't attend, my uncle has a medical conference in Utah on MONDAY - mind you my party is on Sat. AFTERNOON - so it is too difficult for them to fly into NY then go to Utah. They told my mother however if the party was Sat night they would have been there. This really upsets me. My parents go out of their way for my moms neice and nephew, and I am their only neice and they made such a big deal of HAVING to be at this party that we held off on the party just for them!

WOW, I don't know what to say. I can't believe after you switched things around for them, they have the sheer nerve to do that

Somethimes people get so wrapped up in themselves and what is going on with them that they forget the feelings of others.

That is terrible! I am so sorry to hear that!! Some people can be just so selfish when it comes to other people's happiness. Honestly, there are so many friends and family memebers that I have an entirely different attitude towards now, due to what they pulled at or at the time of my wedding! There are 3 third cousins and two friends that I probably won't speak to again!! Please try not to stress out about these people, once your big day arrives, you will have so much fun, love and appreciation coming your way that you won't even miss them! Feel better!

It is just that my father was an only child and this is my mothers only sister. My fathers cousin who we consider to be more of an uncle just died about a week and a half ago and I just found out his wife's neice is getting married the same day as us (but thank god she will be coming to our ceremony since her neices wedding is later in the day). So it is my ONLY Aunt and Uncle so I am hurt by that

I have no idea? That was all that they said to my mother - maybe my uncle can't take off friday and then for the conference on Monday - He is a surgeon)

That really is too bad, considering they made you switch the date to begin with! I think your feelings are certainly justified, but do try to enjoy every minute of this time. Don't let selfish people like this bring you down - it's YOUR time.

Thank you girls. I know it is silly but we are only inviting about 50 people and b/c they live in Texas we rarely see them so it was very important for me to see them.
But you are right - I will have my fathers family there and my friends!

I'm so sorry to hear this. Would they come in without your uncle since he's the one that needs to be in Utah? Don't let it bring you down. My 2 cousins who are also BM's stayed at my e-party for maybe an hour or two and ran out to a birthday party for their friend who they said does nothing for them and treats them badly! That made me feel really bad but look at all the other people who are coming for you!
