DIY Attempt on Invites... need opinions!

Original post by yswedding

So, I loved the ultra modern super chic invites, but 20-30 bucks a pop ...

So here is my attempt to imitate... unfinished, just placing together...

I decided to ignore tradition and do them super informal and a little more fun. The colors aren't perfect on it, due to monitors and shrinking pic, but they will match the pocketfold and flowers. The script writing is in Russian and doesn't translate exactly but is meant to give the essence of the English text, since nothing ever translates exactly. FH family is mostly Russian, so I'm trying to show the melting pot. And I thought it would be fun design.

I got a great price to just letterpress that one invite panel, on thick cotton paper. Just cause I'm in love with it, and it will be the only acid free paper.

The pocket fold is metallic navy and just tied with a shimmery lime ribbon.

I'm going to line envelopes in that green paper, I love it, but I think its too green? maybe? And I might do the thick cotton envelopes cause they will letterpress return address on them for free! yay!

What do you think is it too crazy? Too loud? Too green?

I don't want to ask too many people around me, since I want it to be a little bit of a surprise.

What else should I try, the navy seemed to quiet everything down so I used it. The groom and other men are wearing navy suits. My colors are from the bouquet:

awesome job
don't be surprised if you get asked to make other girls invites too

I actually wouldn't mind, even though I'm so stressed and nervous and totally freaking out of my own, I think I would actually have a blast making for others.

But be warned, I have a sense of humor and I am terribly bored with 'the way things are supposed to be'.

oh we are going to have the oddest wedding ever nothing reallt too traditional with us and it's awesome to have a good sense of humor makes life fun

Very nice job. I would use a thicker ribbon though, it will look more substantial.

Also, what about finding like a 1' or 1.5' ribbon in the lime green in Satin. It will really make the ribbon pop on the pocketfold and then cut 'cat tails' onto the ribbon after it't tied.

Can you tell I do this for a living

You have FM.... I had the hardest time finding the right color and type of ribbon, and I think your right I would have loved a thicker ribbon.
