lets just say, i have too much time on my hands.
and i'm so glad that art school degree is doing so much for me. bahahhaa. i can DIY wedding crap like it's nobody's business.

butttt here's a run down if you're into it:
-i did a thinner layer of cotton batting under it like 1/4 in thick and spray glued that down.
-cut 2-3x as much fabric as you need (measure around with one of those sewing tapes). And keep a little extra on the height of the box so it wraps around top and bottom cleanly. you can always trim this or glue it down inside.
-use straight pins to secure the fabric to the batting, put them in at an angle, through the cotton, not through the box. and just keep folding as you go along. this is the part that an extra set of hands is great if you have a BM or FH handy. i wish i sis, some parts aren't as evenly spaced as i wished, but whatever.
-those little pearl things, are actually from michaels . they're the 3$ pearl brads made by brides. i took a pair of pliers and pulled the brad part off and hot glued them over the straight pins to hide them without having to glue all of that fabric down.

they were regular hat boxes, but after the batting and the folds, the tops didn't fit due to the extra thickness.
so i cut the center out of the top, and used the lip to apply the copper trim on the bottom and hot glued that down and fashioned a bottom from foam core and added a little door down there.

the best part is, with the tucks, you can hide mistakes and if you run short, you just sneak it under the last one and keep on going.

these actually started out at 1.50 high school musical boxes from ac. moore. they're hot pink/blue/yellow under all that!

pic will be posted as soon as i'm done writing this so you can see.
so you don't see it through the fabric, i hit them with some white primer spray paint and a coat of white after that to be safe.
enjoy!
