DIY Card Box

DIY Card Box

Anyone done one? I want to do a round one, using a round hat box, and make it look like a baseball (Mets themed wedding here).

I'm not terribly crafty, although I have knitted and crocheted.

Am I setting myself up for disaster?

That will be very easy to do.

Buy the brown hat box in AC Moore or Michaels.
Cut the slit for the cards. Then paint with 2-3 coats of acrylic paint (about $1) with a foam brush.

For the red, either paint it on,get a felt sheet and glue it on or pipe cleaners.

The most time consuming aspect would be to wait for the paint to dry between each coat. The paint dries quickly but I would wait overnight before adding the red.

I should have prefaced my post by saying that my inspiration is a jumping point. I wanted to 'age' it a bit, like a worn game ball, with some sort of Mets logo on it. I can do that basic design pictured.

I haven't DIY'd anything for my wedding (unless you count my VistaPrint invitations), and feel like I should DIY something.
