DIY cardbox?

DIY cardbox?

This may sound crazy, but can I just take a regular shoe box and decorate it for my cardbox? How would I make one of my own?

Re: DIY cardbox?

I bought everything at Micheal's
These are according to what i got for my cardbox (in my album)

supplies:
- exacto knife (makes it easier to cut the slit)
- strong craft glue ( I used a glue called flip flop glue)
- the ribbon around the slit (ribbon aisle)
- if you want those small flowers (wedding aisle)
- K & J wood letters (craft aisle)
- metallic paint (painted the wood letters)
- big box (fabric was already on it)
- small box (fabric was already on it)
- round box
- and those flowers (flower aisle)

I put the small box (middle box) over the big box and positioned it to my liking and i traced it. then I got the exacto knife and cut the top of the big box (what i traced). Then I cut the entire bottom of the small box (so that the cards can fall into the bigger box) on top of the small box i cut the slit and put glue all around the rim and put a satin ribbon around it because the pieces of card board was sticking out. Then on top of the satin ribbon i put glue and put the pearly ribbon...

My boxes came with the fabric on it, you can use a shoe box and get your own fabric. You can use a spray glue adhesive to stick the fabric on shoe box its less clumpy.

I hope i didn't confuse you lol...

I made mine. Bought the fabric from Joann's and one box was from around the house and the second box I bought at Michaels but decided to put fabric over it.

Pics in my DIY album.

A shoebox might be too small - i used a regular cardboard box i had from an incoming shipment.

Re: DIY cardbox?

Heck yes - go for it - I plan on getting boxes (one larger than a shoe size though as that would be too small) I am picking fabric in the colors of the hydrangeas in our cp and covering the boxes. Wrap it just like a present and use fabric glue or a hot glue gun(with a fabric glue stick) to adhere the material. - I think 2 boxes will do it for me depending on the sizes. I have done it before in the past - Ihave also made wedding cake boxes to wrap pegnoir sets in ...gown in the bottom - robe in the middle and thong/slippers in the top - comes out really cute !!
