DIY Cardbox

I'm ready to begin!! How tall are some of your boxes?? I was looking on ebay and most of them are 14 maybe 15 inches tall... What's the norm? Can you guys post pics of your boxes?? Need to get my creative juices flowing.. LOL

TIA!

Re: DIY Cardbox

I just typed in wedding card box in the search and it pulled up a whole bunch of ones that people are auctioning. I just wanted to get an idea of how tall it should be, but 14 inches seems kind of short. I purchased my paper mache boxes off of a different website.

hmm that's a cool idea, I will look that up as well. I would go longer than 14 inches!

Yeah that's what i'm saying.. a cardbox 14' in height seems a bit small, I mean I guess it would depend on the size of the wedding. we have 250+ people attending. I don't think all those cards will fit in there... Am I being silly??

i've made a few now they are about 14-16' tall you could always add more to them to be higher.... but it really all depends on how big the bottom box is that will basically hold all your cards.

check out my card box album there are a few different ones i made posted in there

Re: DIY Cardbox

Pics of mine in my DIY album. I got the boxes at Michaels. The bottom box is about 10' tall (I think, could be 12'), top box is only 3' or 4' tall at most. I painted the boxes with an acrylic paint (3 coats each), and then hot glued everything else on. The box top was on with a tight seal to begin with so any would-be thieves would have had to wrestle with the box to get it open. I know we did!

Brila, what did you make the top (the letter) out of?

Re: DIY Cardbox

Also, Brila, what did you wrap it with? It looks like a fabric?

Re: DIY Cardbox

Sorry for taking so long to get back!!

I used [email protected] for that.

Email him and tell him what size and font you wish to have it made in. He's very quick to respond and does excellenct work. The letter is made of wood. We spray painted it and rolled it in white glitter.

The boxes were wrapped in fabric. Actually we used an old BM dress in my exact BM dress color!

My MIL is so talented.

Does Crafty Eddy have a website? What does a card box generally cost??

Re: DIY Cardbox

To be honest I'm not sure if he has a website. I'm sure if you email him he'd be glad to answer that for you. The way I found out about him was on this site. Alot of his business from here is from word of mouth.

You could make a very basic DIY cardbox for as little as $10. It all depends on how extravagant you want to make it. Mine probably came to $50 with all the supplies I used. The fabric, ribbons, wooden letter on top, glue, etc. The boxes were free because I found them at work.

HTH!
