I need some help ladies. This is the one DIY that stresses me out. I've already seen several beautiful ones from ladies here, does anyone else want to post theirs and the steps they took to make it? My first idea was to use fabric but then I was afraid of having too many folds show and it look like a present.

Re: DIY Cardbox
An alternative to DIY-ing it if it's stressing you out is to find an existing 'something' that can work as a card box. I was going to make one, but then I found a beautiful big glass and metal lantern in Home Goods for less than $20 that opened on the top - it was perfect for people to drop cards in, and looked really nice filled with envelopes at the reception. And, the best part is that I can now put candles in it and use it for years to come.
So, think outside the card box!

Re: DIY Cardbox
i cut a hole in the lid of the largest box and the bottom of the middle size box also cut a slit in the middle size box for the cards to be dropped in i just wrapped them up like presents using satin and adhesive spray. i also used some fabric tape for the edges to make sure they didnt open. to attach the ribbons etc i used a glue gun
good luck!
the box is missing a rhinestone in the top center but you get the idea...

Haha I love the pun. That's a really good idea. I already have the paper mache boxes but any reason to go to Home Goods is a good one! LoL

Re: DIY Cardbox
I spray painted mine. I first traced a circle of the middle box(bottom) on the large boxes top and cut the whole on the largeboxes top based on the trace I did. i then cut the Middle boxes bottom in a circle (I left 1' of the bottom so I can still sit it on the larger box top) I hope that made sense. then cut the envelope slit on the middle box. the spray painted the tops one color and the bottoms another. Glued together and decorated.
