DIY Centerpiece

Woud you use fake flowers?

Crate & Barell had an amazing centerpiece set up with a tall vase and fake orchids; peonies & lillies. It was beautiful. I'm sure this can be replicated using real flowers but it could be costly. If i purchased the faux flowers (even if not from C&B) i'd still let guests take them home and they can use it in their house...any thoughts or opinions on this?

Thanks!

Just don't want to look tacky or anything using fake flowers!

Never mind-i just added what all the botancials would cost (at Crate & Barrel) and it was almost $1.5K in just fake flowers..that's alright. Unless i find something more reasonable down at the flower district...i'll stick with the florist.

I wouldn't do fake flowers. The idea is nice for the guests to take them home though.

What about using wholesale florists online? It would be less expensive that going to a florist. Also, you can look into getting inexpensive glass vases from a craft store.
We did that for my friends wedding and the bouquets and everything turned out beautifully!!

Best of luck!

i wanted to do the same thing but was told by EVERYONE i know that it was a bad idea.

maybe you can have non-floral centerpieces instead like candles or whatnot?

I'm gonna check out the flower district and see what kind of prices i get.

Thanks ladies!!

I saw the set up and loved them; but you're right-it's not for a wedding centerpiece; but maybe i'll buy just one to put in my home!

Fake flowers are not bad depending where u get them. Most of them look so real you can't even tell. Michael's and AC Moore have a grt selection, and u can take them home and take them apart to create something else. And/Or u can have them forever to remind u of ur day. I would do the silk flowers instead. But it is ur choice. The false floral industry has gotten so much better within the last couple of yrs, it really is amazing. And it can be more cost effective if u go to the right store.

if i go to the right store you're right-i'll have to look around. I haven't even started to look at florist yet; so i'm not sure what prices they want for CP's. If i can do the same thing for a fraction of the cost I totally will (even if using real flowerS)
