Re: DIY centerpieces... has anyone done this...
I was considering to DIY my flower centerpieces, but i changed my mind because: 1. no matter how great a job i'd do, it'd still look like it was home-made and it might give the wedding a 'tacky' feel to it 2. if i did this, i'd need to get all flowers a day or two before the wedding and put the centerpieces together then. I'm sure i'll have other things to worry about at that point
HTH even though i didn't really answer your question

i was thinking of DIY centerpieces too, but the problem with that is that you need to be sure you can keep the flowers alive. i live in an apt where the heat isn't controlled by me, so that'll be a difficult task, so i'm going with a florist.
i know that doesn't answer your question, but it gives you something else to think about....

it really depends on what kind you do.
I bet you could do something w submerged flowers easier than actual centerpieces...or candles could work. or fruit or something in a tall vase.
what are you thinking of doing?

thanks, its totally helps... i was thinking of fake flowers (in water) for one idea, but i feel the same way- will it look tacky??? thats def not what i want either...
my hall is like 1 hr and 15min away- i just keep thinking about do i really want to worry about traveling and having them set up by the hall (i could hire oneof their staff memebers for this) as opposed to ppl who do this for a living.. lol
i think i made my mind up but ive seen a couple that look GREAT... just soo much money!

I mean its always up to you. If you want to save money, you can also go for simply flower arrangements and not do anything crazy. What you can do is order some wholesale flowers now and do like a test run. Put together some pieces you like and see how they look. Play around with some colors and vases and see how they work together. You can even make it a family project! If you think they look too 'home made' then scrap the idea and go to a florist. But i think you can definitely do DIY flower centerpieces. I'm personally thinking about doing the same thing and maybe just getting a florist to do the my bouquets, BP bouquets, groom and groomsmen boutonnieres, mom and FMIL flowers. Good luck!

you could also do really simple flowers. stay away from high centerpieces bc they're way more.
Id love to do mine myself btu honestly I think I'd be wayy too stressed the day before my wedding to handle it.

I'm having DIY centerpieces. Its not flowers though. I'm having a winter wedding, so I'm doing vases with ornaments. Pics in my album. I'll be saving a ton of money and I think the price for the flowers is outrageous and at least this will last forever
