DIY chuppah

DIY chuppah

Has anyone made one? Is anyone making one? The cheapest quote I got for the chuppah was $400+. It's just some poles and fabric!

We have a family one to use (I have LOTS of cousins), but one of my cousins made it originally. If you don't need it to be free-standing, it shouldn't be too hard to make. There are lots of websites with directions.

i want a free standing one, because the lighting guy said he would throw uplights on it for free.

IMO it's not worth the 'free' lights if you have to pay a lot of money for a free standing one.

i agree, that's why I was going to make one myself. but he wasn't trying to rent me a chuppah (he doesn't have one).

There are lots of DIY websites online but the 'free standing' issue means you need to anchor it either in large planters, or in cement 'feet' or umbrella stands. I really did not want to spend the $750-1000 that was the normal quote, but then again I am not a DIY girl and also hated the traditional 'hand held' chuppah that our Rabbi had available.

I wound up getting a fabulous price through Hidden Essence who is my florist. FM for more info if you are still looking for a florist, and she can definitely get you a great price on the chuppah too.

There are so many beautiful ways to create and personalize a chuppah! As a wedding photographer I’ve seen many lovely variations on the theme--from simple posts held by friends of the bride and groom and draped with fabric, to elaborate structures built to be a lasting part of their home together.
