DIY Flowers...

DIY Flowers...

I just found out that I can save a ton of money by buying wholesale flowers and making my own centerpieces. I was wondering if anyone has tried or is trying this. I was thinking of ordering some say 6month before the wedding and see if I can manage to put together my own centerpieces. This way I'll know what day to order, store them etc. Is this a good idea?

You might be better off with silk flowers. I've read on here that using real flowers can be a real pain in the @ss because you have to take alot of care of them!!

My mom is making my CP with silk flowers. She has done them before and they always look beautiful

Where are you getting the silk flowers from? Just curious because I want to make my own CPS and bo-ks. (i'm ambitious!)

my worry with DIY'ing real flowers is if you have to put the bo-k's and what not together the night before your wedding which could get pretty stressful...especially if something goes wrong

maybe I will do non floral centerpieces and get my bouquets from the florist. I saw a pic on here that really caught my eye...

I would probably take the day off to do them, otherwise it would be cutting to close, also my RH (haven't booked yet but very close) offers floral cp's at 25 bucks a pop, I'll have to ask what they offer...

There is a craft store by me in Ridgewood, Queens on Myrtle Ave. Cant remember the name.
I'll ask her what the name is

My nana is doing all of my bo-K's - she has worked with a florist. All of my CP I will be getting from a florist because it will just be way to much work. But it wouldn't hurt for you to try

If you know what your doing, then I say go for it...but like Jackie said, it could be a lot of added stress the night b4 if you do real flowers. I personally don't like silk flowers but I have seen some gorgeous silk arrangments, its a matter of finding really nice ones and putting them together beautifully.

o and forgot to say that I really like the idea of non-floral cp's....lots of candles and maybe just some rose petals.

Re: DIY Flowers...

i totally DONT reccommend doing your own flowers with real flowers.... my family owns a florist and i work there 3 days a week and im even thinking about having another florist do my cp's and bqts beacuse i know ill want to fix everything and the day before i dont want to be stressed.. so imagine me standing over my brother and cousin as they do my wedding flowers lol
