So for my guestbook I am planning on printing out notecard size papers for guests to write wishes on and put in a birdcage. I am leaning towards using this unfinished wood tray to display the notecards. I would paint it white and build in the little compartments. What do you think? Is it too plain? Any suggestions on how to bling it up? Or is it good enough since I dont want to distract from the paper?

I think this is a great idea.... painting it white is good but I guess if you wanted to add some detail you can get those stick on rhinestones. You could just put them a long the base of the tray, just to add a little pop.
I dont think that would take away from the note cards - or if you found a quote your really like you could paint it on it as well.

That's an awesome idea!!! FH and I are planning on doing a Jets Jersey with our last name and some how use our wedding date as the number and have guests sign that.

Thanks!!!! It was FH's idea, and I'm loving it.. we are still working out the logistics since football jersey material might be too tough to write on, so we might use a T-Shirt instead.

i guess the lace you wouldn't tie into a bow - i would assume you could just wrap it around it, but i dont think a bow is too modern.. i think its simple but gives it a little something extra

I think the bow is really nice. It's not too modern! Lace might be a bit frilly and too much on a wooden tray.
