NEVER DIY'd before, I'm soooo not creative like that but due to constantly changing guest list issues (thanks FILs and dad's friends) FH and I decided that though we're having our programs and menus done for us, we are going to do our escort cards ourselves
essentially....HELP is there a good kit for this? can we just buy little tented cards and go for it? what do you suggest???

I got a kit at Staples and printed them up on my own computer. Michael's has kits too and prob more of a selection. You could write them up or print them out. I've seen it done both ways and both look great.
ETA: The kit I got had templates on their site that you could download

got mine at Michaels (with coupons!!) and they are so easy to do... they give you the templates to print from as well!

DH made ours... its was simple, he designed the program and printed.. all we had to do was fold them in half. he's offered to design them for other brides for a low fee.
menu's are easy too...
its the escort cards that I find to be a PIA! what we did was we resized a picture of us and had it as a background image and we typed the guest names and table numbers and did an overlay then went to staples and had it printed like 24x30 or something...
so much easier to do and less to worry about on the day of (if one gets lost, if they're in order, etc)

instead of cards we had two 10x10 frames with our guests names and where they sat, it was a lot less work and worked out really well. we got the paper and frames at michaels using coupons.
