DIY invitations?

DIY invitations?

So I have booked my RH (hooray!!), so I am ready to start on invitations.

I want to do them myself, but I have no idea where to begin. I am fairly good with the computer, but have never done any projects. If I buy an invitation kit from Michaels, will the instructions be clear? If not, where can I find out how to do the invitations?

Good luck!!!

Re: DIY invitations?

I used the Anna Griffin pink botanical rose and got raves from my invitees when they received it and they can be critical.
they give you a practise card the size of the invite or vellum overlay if that's the style (mine was). On this it has the size of the sheet and the margins.
You go into PAGE SETUP and key these in and that's about it!
Of course you also have to layout your wording and position it on the page to look nice. So you have some creative room here, you'll need to pick out the fone you want to use and what type size or if you want to vary the size etc etc. I cut up alot of paper and just played with fonts and type size til I got the look I wanted. Not difficult. Only thing I had a little problem with was darkness of print vs drying time printing on vellum since that does not absorb ink well and you need to let it dry so it doesn't smudge. If you use inkjet this could happen but I don't think with laser. I just used black ink option so ink wasn't so heavy. The print was lighter but I liked it like that - - gave a more delicate look to the invite.
Great prices going that route too - - Those invites were $40 for 50 but I used 50% coupon. ACMoore has less expensive but pretty invites too.
Check both and have fun. FM if you need more info.

I was going to use the DIY from Michaels, but I fell in love with pocketfolds. Pics in album

Lately, Michaels and AC Moore have gotten new invites in and they are gorgeous. Looks like they can fit anyone's theme or colors. GL, give a holla if you need any help.

Also check out invitesite.com. I just finished doing my invitations that I ordered through them. Their selection was great and my invitations came out awesome. They look like they were really expensive, but cost me about $400.
