DIY Invitations or not??

DIY Invitations or not??

Hi Ladies
I have noticed that a lot of you ladies have made your own invites and they have all come out AMAZING!!

A little back story- FH stepfather is a printer and has offered to do our invites for free, which is great since we need to cut where we can, but they would be very very plain. I don't mind plain, but I couldn't even have a border. So FH and I decided we would forgo that route and find another way to get invitations we love as well as at a price that would not kill us.

What I wanted to know is we need approx 125 invites and wanted to know if it is more cost effective to make them ourselves or order from party city or online?? I absolutely love the pocketfold invites but there is no way we can afford them from a regular invite store. Or do we suck it up and go with FFIL and let him make them up?

Sorry this is so long, just a little confused. TIA!!

I have the same issue with not having a huge budget. I just think spending hundreds-thousands on invites is ridiculous! I found a website that has fairly good prices so I am going with them. Here is a link to check out....

You actually have the answer in your post! Have FSFIL print up the actual invite card and all the inserts. Then, you can either buy the pocketfolds and mats and assemble or save even more $ by making the pockets yourself.

I'm so jealous...you will save $ and time by having him print them!

I agree, of all places I am willing to 'skimp' I guess invitations is it. But I do think that the invitation is a preview to your wedding. I am sooo confused! lol

Maybe you could utilize FH's stepfather to print the components of your invites (verse, response cards, hotel room info, ect.) You could us them as a professional looking base to create pocketfolds or layered invites. There are so many nice examples of DIY invites ladies on here have done. Just a thought. Good luck
