Re: DIY Invite Help
I designed my own in Publisher. Took an image that I liked and went from there.

Re: DIY Invite Help
Okay, calm down. It can get overwhelming but you have plenty of time.
This is what I did:
I went on cardsandpockets.com (I loved them and they ship superfast so already you are doing something right ) and ordered samples of different styles of invitations in different colors so I could see everything in person. I thought I was going to do a pocketfold but I wound up choosing the petalfold.
Once I decided on the colors and the invitation I knew what size document I needed to create. I went into Word and changed the margins of the page to that size.
Then I went to dafont.com and downloaded different fonts. (It is free and there are tons of them.) Then I went online and looked at different invitation websites and copied the wording I thought worked best for my event.
I played around with the font and sizing in my document and added a photo. (I already got married and am having a post-nuptial reception so I wanted to include a photo from my wedding day.) I copied it and pasted it into the doc.
I hope that helps and good luck!

I did the same thing, ordered the card stock from cardsandpockets.com. I got the fonts from dafonts.com and then used a template from envelopme.com for the size pocketfolds I got. Then I just played with the colors and added our monogrma to the top. The biggest PIA was cutting all the paper to fit the envelopes. Hope this helps!!

Wow. this is a great idea! I want the petal folds too. My home printer is not that great so I may go to staples and get them printed, but I'm definitely going to try Word and see if it works out better than the templates. Thanks !

Re: DIY Invite Help
After I designed my invite with the photo and printed it, I realized that the printer at my job was not functioning properly. So, since I wanted to get them out as fast as possible, I saved them to a pdf file and then to a disk and took them to Kinkos to be printed. If you are going to go that route I can offer you a bit of advice there as well:
Make sure you save your document as a pdf. I did not do that at first. I saved it as a Word document and brought it to Kinkos in that format. Since I used fonts that I downloaded from dafont they did not have them on their system and when they opened my file it changed them to their default font and my invite was majorly effed up. I had to run back to my office and save it as a pdf and then bring the disk back.
Also, if you are going to have them printed at Kinkos, depending on the size of the paper they can print two per page and cut them to the perfect size for you on their cardstock.
Keep that in mind when ordering from cardsandpockets because if you are going to purchase the cardstock from Kinkos you will not need to buy it from C&A.
Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Re: DIY Invite Help
mmm. I didnt think of that either. ok, I'm going to try it and let you know how that goes. Thanks again.
I'm starting early because I'm diy'ing alot of stuff and its going to be a lot of work, so I'm getting the seemingly simple stuff out the way first.
