DIY Invites

DIY Invites

Ok so I have seen BEAUTIFUL DIY invites here done by all you ladies but we really couldnt afford the pocketfold route and I honestly couldn't justify spending obscene amounts on invites because I KNOW people throw them away and it would phsycially cause me pain when my time is so limited to spend extra moments on something the trash man will appreicate as soon as the guests rsvp.

So we decided to buy boxes of those WILTON Print it yourself kits. GREAT deal. We paid 17 bucks for one box with a coupon and then 13 bucks with coupon at a another place where they were cheaper to begin with.

So that was 30 bucks. We had coupons for ribbon so another total 4 bucks. With ink-we didnt use a whole cartridge which is 80 bucks and we had flowers left over from another old craft project for the red ones. For the vellum fold ones we got that from friends-leftover and only 25 so we are using them for closest friends and fam because FH likes them better.

So a break down in case anyone wants it:
Invitations (with response cards) =$30.00
Ink= About $80.00 (we used half for it and half for our STDs)
Ribbon=$4.00
Red flowers= nada (left over from an old project)
Vellum paper=nada-left over from friends wedding that matched our theme.

TOTAL: $114.00
We estimated it was about 100.00 savings for the invites and $50.00 for STDS so not bad. A little time consuming but they are personal so we are happy.

This is the invite going to closer friends and family (FH choice)

This is the other one-simpler but I like it better because of the colors-orange and red. Those are two of our wedding colors. FH is more traditional-I tend to be more modern and minimalist.

They are so nice, but I have a question the vellum did you print the white floral oval or did it come like that?

Re: DIY Invites

They came that way. The flowers were made of cardstock and you just stick them on-sticky backs. That set has response cards that match the vellum and the invites are plain white cardstock. We only used the vellum part. Both invites are just DIY sets from Wilton. You can get them at any MICHAELS, AC moore or Rag Shop. (rag shop in NJ had the best prices)

Using both would be awesome, because it shows both of your styles. I don't think everything always has to coordinate.

We changed em again! LOL Thankfully we only printed a handful and I can use the ink for other projects. Going much simpler. I'll post a pic at some point. Glad the breakdown helped.

Re: DIY Invites

Lovely!
For something like this- is it better to use a laser or ink jet printer?

Re: DIY Invites

Honestly I don't know. I do know that big companies tend to use lazer jet but I have inkjet and its working just fine. I have a very high tech Epson(GREAT Xmas present!) printer-does all sorts of fun stuff(even scans straight from a negative and prints out a picture) and the clarity is great. Its meant to print photos so I have done all my DIY paper stuff here including the invites, STD magnets and STD cards.
