DIY Invites $$

Those of you that DIY invites
Around how much did you actually spend on all the materials? (not including stamps). And were you able to purchase all of materials in one place? Can you please post pictures?
I really want to do them myself but not if it is cheaper to get them made. I'm thinking pocketfolds. Thanks ladies

Re: DIY Invites $$

I DIY my pocketfold invites and they cost me around $417 to make. I don't have the photos downloaded yet. I had to purchase materials from a few different vendors.

80 pocketfolds (including S&H): $117

80 rhinestone buckles (including S&H): $111

Stardream Cardstock paper: $100

Ribbon: $12

100 Outer/Inner envelope set: $52

100 RSVP envelopes: $25

You must consider shipping costs also because these pocketfolds are a little heavy. FM if you need any help!

i had to purchase from different places. Cardstock i bought at paper presentation. Rhinestone buckles i bought at a place called Jablonex in the city, ribbon i bought from a separate store too. Then i had to buy boxes bc instead of an envelope i did boxed invitations.

I spent $2 for the pocketfold itself, since I didn't make it from scratch, metallic cardstock. If you're ok with making the pocketfold from scratch, you can do it for whatever the best price is for the paper you need. It should be less than half of what I paid, and that was the bulk of the cost.
I have a template for making a 5x7 pocketfold out of 12x12 paper.
You can get 12x12 pretty cheap online. LCI paper is as low as 28 cents per sheet (before shipping)
I'm sure someone around here has a better source, but it's a start.

The inserts can be done on regular 8.5 x 11 cardstock from Staples, which is about $12/250 sheets. I got all 4 inserts on 1 sheet of paper, including the RSVP postcard. I printed the seals on full-sheet sticker paper, also from Staples.

Ribbon and trimmings depend on how much you're willing to spend - I got mine on Ebay, I think for $60.
ETA:

I've also made gatefold invites for a shower. I used 8x8 paper from the clearance aisle in Michaels (15 cents per sheet) to make the card, and a textured 8x5 x 11 paper to make the darker blue band. I think I spent $2 for the little blue ribbon on the front, and used a roll of thin ribbon I had laying around for the inside (but it's only $1 in the store). The inside cards were 4 x 5.5, flat cards that I had lying around, but you can make 4 per sheet from regular cardstock.
I guess, all told, the blue invite below cost me about $1 each. Maybe less. And I mailed them in standard business envelopes, so no big deal there, money-wise.
