DIY Invites-Pop Up

I am a newbie to all these wedding DIY and I wanted to make my own Invites. My FH doesn't want a boring invites but something different like a pop up invites or something a little different then the normal invites... Does anyone have any ideas or pics?

I'm trying to find a unique invite too. I found a pop-up that is gorgeous but hand made in Spain. I'm sure it would be a fortune (not to mention I'd have to practice my Spanish!) See them here: http://fundicion.es/trabajos.php?id_tipo=4&id=43

I'm also trying to think of a cute and unique place card/table decorations. I thought about make a plate kits...I can make a plate for each person with a little note and some drawings. Along the invite idea, I thought about using the Illustory books kits and sending them as invites.
