Honestly....I paid what I think was too much $$$$ for invitations....However, I dont consider myself a DIY savvy individual. But if I could do it all over again I would buy a nice DIY invitations from Michaels and just save the money.
That's a good project if you have the time.

Re: DIY Invites/rsvp/enclosure cards
hahah...um i can't tell as of yet. I did want to just buy something when I was stressing but it was just way too expensive to get what I wanted already pre-made. I'm sure it will be worth it when I get them in hand.
This is what I do for a living so I felt I had to do it myself.

worth the stress & aggravation? Please be honest
Ughhhhh I would say yes because of the money I saved and how good I feel knowing I did the invites, but they were a huge stresser and pain.
But I did save a ton of $$ and put my graphic design degree to use so in the end...yeah, it was worth the aggravation

Thanks so much for being honest! I found a site that has the invites I want for a great price. I emailed them for printing costs & they said it would be $243, which isn't so bad but that money can be used elsewhere. The thing is - my MOH has her degree in Graphic Design so I asked her for her help. I am not sure this is fair to her. Plus she lives all the way upstate.. I am just so confused. I want to save money but I don't want to be super stressed out. How much did you end up saving if you don't mind my asking? Did you use a kit?

Re: DIY Invites/rsvp/enclosure cards
i was going to DIY - bought all the supplies and it was about $500 in supplies (not including addressing and stress)
ordered from a vendor and am paying $775 - this is a present to myself to get rid of the aggravation
IMO, there are a lot of other ways you can get rid of $275

I totally hear that. That is what I am so torn about. Do I just spend the money and only worry about getting them mailed out. Or do I save that $250 and basically kill myself & my MOH over the next few weeks with BS. Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Decisions!
Thanks for your input. You did help! I am leaning towards having them printed. :)

Dont mind at all
I desgined everything in Adobe Illustrator and sent all the files for printing to 48hourprint.com, who I use to print everything (I do some stuff for my job and freelancing, and I used them for my STD's.) When all is said and done, I will probably spend $400 for invites...but I have heard of people spending at least a thousand, so I think (hope) I am ahead of the game here!
The kits are cheaper I believe, and I was going to maybe use them originally, but it wasn't the look I was going for (but some of them are beautiful!!) I just wanted to design them myself completely.
Hope that helps! Any other questions feel free!!

I am so impressed!! I don't feel like I have what it takes to do all this but I know my best friend/MOH does. $400 is an amazing prive for invites. I want pocket invites and they are looking to run around $600 with everything. I feel like - why settle? I looked at a few kits in target and I wasn't crazy about them. I will check in with my MOH later today - and see what she thinks. I am thinking of using cardsandpockets.com their prices are really good.... Thanks for your help, I am sure I will speak to you again real soon

Re: DIY Invites/rsvp/enclosure cards
You can always use the kits for the main cards - invite, rsvp, reception and add on using paperandmore.com envelopes/pocketfolds.
When are you planning to send invites? I got kits and cardstock and they are not done yet because I'm slacking on the insert cards. I also don't have that many invites to send out so I could do it one sitting if I wanted to.
You can see pics of my invite in my album.

I plan to send them out in August. So I have time. I just can't decide what to do.

If you feel like you want to add your personal touch then do it. If you think it will be too much stress for you, I say look at other options...

I am looking at all my options. I really don't want to do this myself. And I don't want to bother anyone for help. I checked out cards&pockets.com & there prices are great. it's just they charge $250 for printing. that's nuts! I also contacted someone at even*star*paperie* and they are pretty pricey too. i don't want to overpay for something that literally gets tossed in the trash...
