so i finally got the cardstock i wanted to make my menus but my printer won't print on it - it's too thick and keeps getting jammed. what can i do?? help!!!
UPDATE: ok ladies i tried altering the settings for my printer - no luck,. any other ideas how i can print my menus without having to get new paper? please help!!
UPDATE #2: so i took *your* advice and bought white cardstock in a lighter weight. my mother is trying to convince me that it is thick enough to do the menus on without cutting it down and attaching it to the thicker cardstock, and at this point, since i don't feel like stressing myself out, i am inclined to go that route.
so i guess my question is... do you think that's a bad idea? the white cardstock stands up pretty well, but not perfectly - like, if it was lying on the plate, or held, it's fine, but it can't stand up on it's own. what should i do?

does your printer have a place in a dialog box that you can set it to Card Stock or Specialty Paper?? that may help...

Try printing only a few pages at a time...don't fill the tray.
I got it to work with 5 pages at a time

Re: DIY ladies i need your help - desperately!!
More than likely your printer just wont take the paper....
I have an HP laserjet and I used 67lb paper (you can buy colored or cream cardstock from staples and it comes in different weights.)
70 lbs is about the max that most printers will accept (a little thinner than poster board ala 8th grade science fair posters)

you may have to get new paper...
I don't think there's anything else you can do. Does a friend have a printer that will take it? What about work? Any printers at work that take the paper?

i don't think so - we only have black and white printers at work anyway. i am thinking about printing on regular paper and cutting it, then pasting it to the thicker cardstock. would that look ok?

that's what I did, check out my non pro album for a pic of my menu. I printed on white cardstock & used glue dots to glue them to the red cardstock.

Re: DIY ladies i need your help - desperately!!
what about taking the paper to staples or office max and getting it printed there?... They will even cutt the paper to size the way you want it. if you are a staples rewards member you get points toward future purchases. and they send coupons for free print jobs.

Hmm. I would recommend getting a lighter weight cardstock and then printing on that and attaching it to the heavier stuff. This is what I did. Hope that helps!!!! If you need help, let me know!

I agree.... if you have the files and just need stuff printed onto off-white cardstock (all I have right now) I can do it on my bw laser. FM if you want to otherwise you have tons of options

Re: DIY ladies i need your help - desperately!!
thanks ladies. i actually printed it onto regular white paper that i will attach to the thicker cardstock. i am going to use spray adhesive - i hope it works! i am worried that the paper will wrinkle but i really don't have time to get thin cardstock
