I made in card box the morning of my wedding. It only took me about a half hour to do it. (maybe less!)
I hot glued everything together. I used the super strenght all purpose glue for the gun. I made sure that my photos and mats were inside all of the frames before assembly.
First, I put one frame face down on the table, then held up another frame against it at a right angle the way I would glue it on. I made sure that the frames were flush to each other, then I glued an 'L' shaped corner bracket to the bottom (face down) frame at the top corner. Once the bracket was glued, then I put a dot of glue on the loose end of the bracket, and glued along the edge of the frame. The glue dries fast, so make sure you hold the pieces together tightly. Repeat this process for all of the sides. I then turned the box upside down, and measured the bottom. I then cut out a stiff piece of card board (you can use foam board for this too), and glued it on to form the base of the box.
For the top, I used a piece of foamboard cut a little smaller than the opening. I cut a diagonal hole (from corner to corner) in the foam, then I glued the batting onto it. Once it was glued, I cut the batting where the hole was, and pushed the ends into the hole. then I flipped the foam over, and glued the ends I pushed though to the under side of the board. I did the same thing with the fabric, which I placed over the batting. Once the fabic and batting were done, I took the remaining corner brackets, and glued them at the top of the frame, to form a shelf, where the fabric and foam top could lay. the brackets prevent the top from being pushed into the box when people place the cards inside.
