DIY pocketfold girls

DIY pocketfold girls

I bought all the materials and we are going to begin putting them together soon.

I am not sure how to go about sealing them. I was thinking wrap a ribbon around it and then maybe close it somehow with our monogram, but I'm not sure the easiest way to do this. Would simply printing on cardstock, cut into a square, and glueing work? Or would that be ugly when they open them.. having dried glue visible if they break them to open the pocketfold....

I thought I had it all figured out, this is the last part I don't know how to go about, lol

I was thinking of putting a small piece of velcro so that it can close and then having the small piece of cardstock with a monogram just affixed to the pocketfold just as a decoration so that it won't be ripped off.

I think your monogram would be really pretty and as well as the ribbon.

Where did you buy all your material? Is it cheaper to make them yourself? and if so, by how much? alot?

You can still do the ribbon but for the actual flap I used velcro because depending on what type of glue you use it may rip the pocket when it's opened. That is what happened when I tried to use a glue dot. When I opened it, it peeled some of the metallic topping off and looked horrible. So I just bought some velcro strips from the hardware store and cut them into small squares and they worked great. No ripping or peeling. The pocket was able to open and close with no problem.

Here's an idea of price.

I did 100 pocketfolds for $256 and this was with me over ordering paper. This is what I did:

LCIpaper.com:
50 8 1/2 x 11 pastel blue vellum: = $9.50
100 8 1/2 metallic beargrass paper = $20.00
100 4 7/8 x 6 7/8 Serene blue paper = $21.00
50 12 x 12 Serene blue paper = $14.00
100 RSVP envelopes = $13.90
100 A7 (5 1/4 x 7 1/4) = $24.00

Envelopers.com
100 5 1/4 x 7 1/4 Star Dream Iris Blue Pocketfolds = 139.00

ebay.com
100 yards of 5/8' antique blue ribbon (seller: milestoneoccasion) = $10.75
144 blue 3mm rhinestones = $4.00

Vectorstock.com
2 images for invitation design and decal from user WaD = $2.00

Office Max
50 copies of invitations = $25.00

GRAND TOTAL: $283.15

I actually could have saved more money too because I only used 50 sheets of the metallic paper and I'm not using the vellum. I had to repurchase my outer envelope because it was too snug. I had to reorder 'jumbo envelopes from LCIpaper.com for $20.'

Also, google coupons for LCIpaper.com. I found some that gave me free shipping.

I made stickers with my monograms printed on them. Not only was it cheap but every single RSVP card I receive raves about the stickers and the invites. They are in my album. IF my stickers aren't posted I will try and post tonight!

My invites cost $330 to make and then over $300 in postage

Oh and I didn't 'Make' the pocketfolds, I made the actual invites. I bought the pocketfolds from Cards and Pockets when they were having a sale. Then I printed everything and pasted and made copies.

FM me if you have questions!

that's where i got my pockets from..... so you just used a sticker to close it? I think I want to use a ribbon, I'm not sure if a sticker would hold the ribbon too. hmmmm

I used a big square sticker with our monogram on it. It kept it closed perfect ( I sent one to myself :)) I gave up on the ribbon lol. My sticker was def big enough that it would have held a thin ribbon. I went to staples and bought large square labels and just printed my monogram on them, then cut it into a perfect square.

I'm thinking of cutting a piece of cardstock into a square and then having another piece of cardstock or a sticker on top of it with the ribbon in between.... does that make sense? Would that work? Or should I just make my life easier and nix the bottom square?

I looked on zazzle.com to make stickers and it would be about $30.... yuck lol how much did you end up spending on the labels?

Re: DIY pocketfold girls

My pocketfold enclosures are long and skinny (4x9) I wrapped 2 layers of paper around them the short way and glued them down to create a sort of 'band' around the middle, then I wrapped and glued ribbon down the middle of the paper strips and am tying small bows on the front. Not sure if this makes sense or not...! I can upload a pic of it tonight when i get home from work if you're interested to see what it looks like.... let me know!

(edited for spelling errors - oops!)
