DIY question for RSVP & reception cards

Well I hope someone can help. FH and I are looking to DIY for the invites, but i'm not sure how it works with the RSVPs and reception cards. we're printing them on his laser printer but do we need a special program for the RSVPs and reception cards? I hope someone can shed some light on this. I wanna know what i'm getting in to. Thanks.

you dont need a special program, just a paper cutter! you can design it in word or powerpoint, print and cut! viola!

I was worried about margins and paper size. in those boxes of DIY invites do they give little cards for rsvp's and reception cards? would you print it on an invite sheet and just cut it in half?
Sorry for being a chuckle-head. I like the idea of doin it myself, but I'm just nervous about it looking right. I migh just want to leave it up to someone else.
