this might sound sort of dumb but if you use vellum on the unity candle, won't it burn?

Re: DIY unity candle question
just keep it about an inch or more away from the top part of the candle. most unity candles don't remain lit long enough to burn down and catch the paper on fire.

Oh thanks...I was wondering the same thing. Do you think the same applies to Memorial candles. Arent' the memorial candles lit on the table at the reception for a while? I'm so not good at this stuff.
Help please.

I am going to do them as well. I was going to try and find a nice tall pillar candle maybe 8'-10' high. My plan is to center the vellum with my printing as best I can leaving about 2'-3' of candle exposed at the top. Hopefully that will give me enough buring time!

Double sided tape worked really good. I actually was shocked how well it stuck to the wax. I did a little trial around christmas when I had some of the DS tape laying around.

Re: DIY unity candle question
I found this photo in a post by Aug07OFCbride she did a beautiful job! She used ribbon matching her wedding colors to cover the edge of the vellum and left a nice amount of room for the candle to burn!
