DIY veils?

My FMIL offered to make my veil and at first I turned her down but after shopping for one I am considering taking her up on the offer...

Has anyone made their own veil? I am looking for something really simple with maybe just a few sparkly bits but I am somewhat concerned about how difficult it will be.

Please give me any an all info (materials, instructions, ease) if you or anyone else has made a veil.
