Hi Girls! I am starting my search for a DJ and I was wondering what a typical DJ should cost?? I want to have an idea before I start inquiring with the companies.

We are looking to book with LI Sound. Saw them at a showcase and thought they were great. I don't have my binder with me right now but I believe for a DJ/MC combo (1 man) for 4 hours, their Package #3 lighting (can't remember what's in it but it's their most popular package), steel drummer for the CH, and our names/monogram in lights, I believe it comes to around $2400 (but mind you that the steel drummer is around $650 so take thought out and it's much cheaper).

It all depends on your package and what kind of additional things you want - uplighting, plasma screens, giveaways, lighting, gobo lights, zap shots...
In my DJ search I was quoted between $2,995-$3,500 and that was for the same kind of package with different variations of it.
Some included llive music for the CH and some didn't - some came w/ a 3 piece band, some only came with 1 (for the CH)
We didn't want to spend more then $3,000 on the DJ and that's exactly what we got.

We're using Unlimited Entertainment Dj's, they're the house vendor for CLM but we're spending 1,500 on a dj. - This includes DJ and Emcee, soundtrack to the wedding, lighting, etc.... We've got them for about 5 hours, including cocktail hour.
