DJ

Hi everyone. As I said before- I do not have much experience with weddings on Long Island. Has anyone been to a wedding where to DJ was just out of this world? To me thats the most important part of the reception and one place where I'm not gonna try to skimp or save money. I just want someone who rocks the house, ya know? Any suggestions would be great- there are so many I don't know where to start or how to choose. I'm about ready to start crashing some weddings just to check out the DJ's! (a free piece of cake would be nice too- just kidding)- Hugs Stacy PS- and how far in advance should I book them????

Good Luck!

June

I'm in the same boat. We just decided that a band is out of our price range but where do you begin with looking for a DJ...and what do you look for??

my grandmother lives on marco island and we went down there last year to visit her... absolutely beautiful!!! i would definitely suggest renting a car...depending on where you are flying into, i would suggest renting the car at the airport (there is only one rental place on the island and its very expensive). also, depending on the time of year you go, they have day trip shuttle boats to key west. it was shut down when we were there because we went during their "off season" (last june). anyway, have fun! -leighann

Hi Stacy, I just booked my dj this past weekend - we looked at 5 different djs before we decided on LI Sounds. It has been the most difficult part of planning - I suggest getting referrals from friends and family, then checking out your catering hall's recommedation and last but not least the LI Wedding Pages (I think they have a website). Good Luck.

I also booked the Huntington Townhouse and so far everything has gone well. I call them with questions and they have been very helpful. My fiance's sister was married there and his family loved the place. I also have heard some bad experiences with the place but I haven't experienced any yet and I'm getting married this October. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this smooth road remains the same but I'll let you know if I hit some bumps!!

LOL!! Monica

I am using Spin Around Sound (www.spinaroundsound). Tom the owner is awesome. They are very classy, unobtrusive. They pride themselves on not being dancers or obnoxious MC's. My fiance is a musician and it was hard to find someone that he liked His pricing is comparible to the other DJ's out there. I highly reccommend them.

LOL!! Monica

Thank you for all your responses. hugs stacy

Kate if what you have been saying is true, and you believe in your comments, no need to respond to mine or Caroline's.(Just passing along the advice you give). You seem to be on the board 24/7 and I am not jealous of how many times you post, or that your THE #1 POST GIRL. You tell everyone not to look up certain topics, or not to respond to the nasty words....well you walk all over your own words and constantly contradict yourself over and over and over by responding to all the negative words.

And before you respond to me, (AND LADIES WE ALL KNOW SHE WILL!) make sure you don't repeat the same blah you tell everyone else. HUGS, LI BRIDE.

Ladies, My fiancee, Nat, and I are planning our wedding from California, so it's even more difficult. She posted a question last week regarding Unforgettable Entertainment. We have also looked at Spin Around Sound. It seems like this really is one of the hardest parts of planning. If anyone has any suggestions, believe me they will be appreciated. We are looking for unobtrusiveness and class (thanks Concetta) as well as the ability to get everyone on the dance floor. Please let us know your thoughts. We like the response we got from both places, but need a little more to push us over the edge. Thanks, J

Lots of Happiness - Lori

Hi. The DJ was one of the hardest decisions we made (you are right) it took me less time to pick out my dress. Anyway. We looked at about 5 dj's and 5 or 6 bands. I have to say Spin Around Sound was the only one we felt 100% about. Tom the owner showed us a video and no one was sitting. Give him a buzz and ask him if he would send you a copy. He has a huge song list and having a music background I was throwing songs and bands at him and he knew everyone which impressed me. he also has a very small crew. So you definetly get someone who knows about your taste (Tom took tons of notes when we met)He doesnt just assign someone to your wedding. I have put in my two cents. It is also chemistry- you have to get the right feeling from the vendor as well. Good Luck and let me know what happens!!!

Good luck starting over..(again) and PLEASE let me know if there's anything you need..anything! Jeannine

I really like Invitation to Dance. They were very professional, lots of energy, and got people to respond at the bridal expo we saw them at. They are located on RT 109 in Farmingdale, and their prices weren't outrageous. Let me know!

Good luck. I will be in that boat soon. I'm getting married in 7 weeks and can't believe it. Your day will be beautiful!!! My only advice is keep smiling and enjoy your day.

My photographer asked me to do him one favor on that day: Have an entire peice of cake. He says that by the time your eating cake the day is gone so sit back and enjoy!!!!!

I'm using Spin around Sound and I really think they are great and might be just what you are looking for. I am also planning long distance and Tom White from Spin around sound was one of the few DJ's that would actually send me a video of their work which was really nice. He has been very prompt in returning my phone calles and answering all of my questions. They are definately worth looking at. Cheers!! Tanya

Hi. Good to hear someone else is using Spin Around Sound. So am I. I loved Tom and thought what he offered was awesome. He shared the same views as I did when it came to DJ's. Good Luck!!

I'm also having an interfaith ceremony. Cantor Benedict is marrying us. If you'd like his info, email me and I'll send it to you directly. Good luck!

Thank you all for your feedback...it looks like we are going to go with Spin Around Sound as well. Gotta agree...they seem very professional, and responsive to our needs. Thanks again, J

thats what my fiance suggested (4 foot sub and some salads and soda-- possibly left overs from the previous night's bbq/rehearsal dinner)!!! and WAY cheaper than even the half price meal my country club offers the vendors. -leighann
