although we didn't want to, we decided to have a dj and an mc..we were sort of talked into it but hopefully it will work out!

Re: DJ and MC or just DJ?
I originally wanted just the DJ. But then we decided that it was a good idea to have a bilingual MC that would announce us, and describe to our guests what is going on in both languages (english & spanish).
So the DJ will concentrate strictly on the music and trying to get a feel of what our guests like and are responding to, while the MC is making everyone feel at home and have everyone participate in the wedding and have a good time.

We are having a DJ and an MC -- we will need someone to get people on the dance floor.

Definitely MC because he make the party going. Remember your DJ and MC can either make or brake the party. Go with the MC.

We're definitely going with DJ & MC!
Ditto! One to play, the other to get the crowd going.

Re: DJ and MC or just DJ?
DJ and MC for us because it just makes sense for our group. Although I know there are a ton of our friends that would get up, the MC helps the others (plus, learned a great thing from Vinny with High voltage- he uses female MC's because a lot of the time its the men that aren't getting up and so they are more likely to get on the dancefloor with a woman asking them to move than with a man.)

Re: DJ and MC or just DJ?
I'm just having a dj and asking him to announce us. If anyone is going to grab a mike and get my party going...it's going to be ME!!!
Personally I have HATED every MC I have ever seen perform at an event. I don't want anyone telling my guest 'just clap your hands to the beat' or anything like that. I also don't plan on being announced like I'm a member of the NY Knicks!!

Ditto. We did not want announcements, other than the first dance, the toast and the cake cutting. We figured why pay for a second person, when the DJ can make those announcements? Also, I am not a fan of the MC, I find them annoying. We are big dancers, and so were many of our guests. We knew if we were up and dancing a lot, so would the guests so we really weren't too concerned about getting people up on the dance floor. I think a lot of people worry that people won't get up and dance, but IMO, if the DJ is good, you don't really need the MC unless you are doing a lot of the participation dances (we didn't).

I third this! I couldn't have said it better. FI and I just booked our DJ this past weekend and are confident that he will do a good job doing both.

Totally agree!! Vinny will be awesome at both and our crowd is definitley full of people who love to dance so, there is no need for an in-your-face MC!
