DJ Annoying me!! HELP PLEASE!!

Iam soooo Pi$$ed!! My wedding is on July 4th and I called my Dj two weeks ago to ask him about the one guy I really wanted to Mc. Well after two weeks of not hearing from him i see him at an expo and ask him again. He says the guy i want definately cant work, so i ask about a second mc that i wanted and guess what he cant work either!! He tells me well its a holiday and you gotta understand no one wants to work that day. He proceeds to tell me that he has to work because its his business. So long story short, he is doing a wedding before mine in the daytime at my RH. He said he may have to be our Mc, but he might try one other guy. I told him I dont want an MC that was just on for 4 hours. I want someone fresh, that is going to get on the dance floor with my family. My family loves to dance. Anyway What should i say to him if he calls back and tells me he is my only choice???? Meanwhile on his website it saysQuote ' if you like a particular MC we will make no substitutuions' PLEASE HELP ME????

when did you book him?

at the time of booking did he write down who your MC was going to be?

come at him with the contract.... it's not like July 4th is a rotating holiday like Easter. There is NO excuse for an MC not being available.

Personally - I would fire him. I have no patience for people like that.

It sounds like you don't have much of a choice.

Although it stinks now, I bet it will be more than fine on your wedding day...

Is there any way to get your deposit back?

I would call and be honest. Tell him you were so excited to have them do your wedding and this is ruining your thoughts of them. Say that it is unacceptable that there is no one available for your wedding and it should have been brought to your attention when you booked them-they are being very unfair. Tell him that you want the unsubstituted MC like their website claims and if they will not provide than you want your deposit back.

My opinion:

DJ is super, super, super important. Start calling around now to see if anyone else is available for your day. Personally - I would cancel. I originally had a DJ booked - his company did my e-party. They suckedd. I HATED my e-party. I fired his asss and booked someone else. And feel much better about it.

How much of a deposit did you leave?

There aren't any clever ways to handle this. It is a holiday weekend, and the owner was honest with you. I hope you figure it out.

this is a hard one- try talking to him and see what mc you will get- maybe you can see them in action so that you will feel better about it. Sorry that they are putting you through this stress.

honestly tho - even if a holiday weekend - thats smoe of the most popular times for wedding and being in the wedding industry - a good business should be prepared for this kind of thing and he shuld have people on - as a boss its his job to set that standard and he doesnt seem like he wants to set that precedence.

I agree with the above - start looking and see if you can get someone with a great mC. I wanted a particular MC and got him made sure his name was down - he made the booking - so i understand why this is important.

sorry this is happening but there really isnt much you can do unless you offer the MC you want extra $$$$.. you must have EVERYTHING on your contract in the beginning.. if you were sure you wanted him you should have gotten it in writing..

good luck though.. if you didnt put alot for deposit maybe consider cancelling the contract....

Good - just dont feel trapped - youre paying good money and deserve the best and deserve what you want - and if a vendor EVER told me that - id say see ya later!

That is soo not fair. I would bring up what is written on their website (no substitutions) and see what he says. If he doesn't give you what you want tell him you are going to look for another dj.
