DJ appointments - UPDATE!

Hi Ladies,

I have 2 DJ appointments tonight. I am excited!!! Music is very important to FH and I. For those that have booked your DJ, any advice on the things I should ask?? Thanks ladies in advance.

UPDATE: So my meetings went really well. I stil haven't decided which one I am going for. I am going to express that I was really impressed that one of the DJ's I went to see paid really close attention to the type of music I wanted. I had emailed him prior to the meeting telling him that I was interested in certain types of Mexican music. Well when we arrived, he had a video to show us of a Mexican wedding they had DJ'ed for. The video even Included one of the traditional dances we do in weddings. He also played a glimpse of the mexican music he has which is exactly what I am looking for. FH and I were really impressed with this because it demonstrated that he paid very close attention to our specific requests and was prepared to deliver what we were looking for. We have one more DJ to check out and then I think FH and I can make a decision.

make sure you negotiate!!!!! i met with 2 djs & told the one i wanted that i got a better deal from another & if they can lower their price i will use them. It worked!!

Definitely try to negotiate with them. A DJ gave us a quote and I told them it was over our budget and he asked what we wanted to spend and he lowered the price. It doesn't hurt to try!!

Also be honest about your budget if it seems like you are about to go over. My DJ made suggestions and adjustments in order to keep us within the amount we wanted to spend while getting the most bang for the buck.

You also want to make sure they show you samples of what you are looking for. They should have live showcases for you to attend, but also have video footage on hand.

Make sure you meet with the MC you will be assigned to, some MC's have different personalities than others - for example you can request a loud, crowd involved MC... or a more reserved, laid back MC (depending on yur preference)
