Is $800 a realistic DJ budget?? We don't need any fancy screens just a good DJ playing great music. We have an appt with In the Mix but not until April; wondering if i need to up the budget; or if it's doable??

I went over my DJ budget, but I think that if you look around and haggle a little you can find that price!

if i remember correctly, my DJ (Variety Music) has packages in that range.

I think you can do it - if you just do a DJ (no MC and all the bells and whistles) you should def be able to keep your budget.
In the Mix is great - they were the first DJ we met w/ and really tried to work with us and our budget. But they do have a TON of cool innovative things that may catch your eye - so just stick to your guns when you go in there.

We just looked at a couple DJs this weekend, DJ Entertainment and On the Record and they both had packages starting at $795...that is just for the dj and no MC.

I got just a DJ for my engagement party (1 man only) for 4 hours at $575. And I've heard of another company that does it for $475. (they're not on Long Island but I'm sure they travel)
They might jack up the prices for a wedding (as most places do) but even so, you should be able to find it at or around 800.
