DJ Forms :(

DJ Forms :(

I'm reading over the DJ forms and I thought I had more time to decide on the music than I do.

Is anyone else's dj's requiring that all of your songs and things are returned no later than 2 months before your wedding??? They're making me fill things out saying who is walking with who and who is giving toasts and things and these are not things we've thought about yet!

Is two months before a wedding the standard?

ALSO!!! I have a complicated parental situation, is anyone either not announcing their parents at the reception or not announcing the bridal party and just announcing the new Mr & Mrs? Do you think there would be anything wrong with that?

Are you all having consultations with your djs because I feel like there are things that maybe I want to talk about with my dj and mc and not the owner who I reach by email.

*sigh*

Two months before... I never heard that !! That is very far in advance! What would they even do with that information so early?

2 months No a month before i dj wanted the song list and 2 weeks before we are meeting with him to discuss finals. but 2 months who knows what can change!

And you dont have to announce your parents or your bridal party if you dont want. You can just announce mr & mrs.

I may drop an email and ask why so early. I swear when I signed my contract it said a month before and now I'm looking at the stuff he emailed me and it says no later than 2 months before on everything.

Thats too early tell him you will give it to him a month before or give him what you have so far.

My wedding is 9-18-2010 and my DJ rec'd having all my pics for the montage no later than 8-1 and we will have our final meeting in mid-August/early September. So I do think your timeline is fairly standard, give or take. Plus, figure you've had time since booking them to think about these things. I personally wouldn't want to go like 2 weeks before my wedding and stress about it, get it out of the way earlier!!

As far as just introducing the new Mr. & Mrs., I've been to several weddings where that's been done. Nothing wrong with that at all.

My DJ did tell me that he wants to start working on the list 2 months before. We are also having 3 different types of music ( spanish, haitian, american) so he wants to make sure he has all of the songs thats important to us

All the wedding day info (names, music, etc) was due at the meeting i had with my dj about a week or so before the wedding. i was even changing things up to a few days before!

I have heard of people just announcing the bride and groom and that is totally your call. I thought about doing that b/c my father is deceased and my mom felt a little strange having ILs walk in and then it was just her. In the end she walked in with my younger male cousin, but i know it obviously still wasn't the same to her. so this was definitely something i thought about and have heard others doing.

No..

There is no way they should be asking you for the information that early.

My company usually sends out a package with all the forms ( do's and don't, song request list, names of everyone etc) about 2 months before the event. BUT.. that doesn't mean you need to send it back right away. About 2 weeks or so before the event we meet with the clients and at that time they bring all the paperwork with them and then do a go-over with anything necessary.

Chances are you won't meet with the acutal DJ. You'll meet with whoever the salesment was who booked you.. most of the time they are MC's.
