i was curious if give outs are too sweet sixteen or is it something that most people do?? TIA

I'm kind of indifferent on the issue...I don't necessarily think that handouts make the party 'more fun,' so we aren't doing them. However, I don't think they make a party 'less fun' or are too immature or anything either. I just don't care enough about them to add them in.

My dad was adamently against them -- he says they make him think of every bad bar mitzvah he's had to sit through during his life.
I never even considered having them because I tend to agree with him about that... but you have to do what makes you happy. If dancing to 'hot hot hot' in a conga line with leis around your necks makes you feel more in the party mood, then go for it! But if you're going for a more elegant affair, I would shy away from chintzy hand-outs.

I hadn't thought about it as it won't fit in to my day (no DJ), but think about you and FH and your guests. I think it depends on the vibe you're looking for. I've been to ones with and without. I didn't think those with handouts were cheesy...it added a silly/fun element. Especially with the kids & adults interacting. Go with your gut!

We will probably do some. We are having a friday night wedding and alot of our guests are young, late 20's to mid 30's. we want a fun night out for everyone. We thought it would add to the atmosphere we were trying to create.
