ok - i took recommendations from this site and made appointments with spin around sound and tommy's tunes. I figured both of these dj companies have gotten great reviews...i went to spin around sound and felt great about it...but figured would just go to the other company to make sure...well i went to my appointment with tommys tunes and they never showed up...i called their main office and the women said he was supposed to be there...i waited for 15 minutes and then as I was talking to my sister we started joking that they would be late for the wedding...that made my decision...I left and crossed them off my list... so here's my question.... would you book a dj without checking others out...I just don't know who else to look at that got great reviews...the one my hall recommends, LI sounds, I haven't heard good or bad...let me know if you think I should book, everyone seems to rave about spin around sound.. thanks

If you have a good feeling about him and he comes well recommended I don't think you can go wrong by choosing him unless you have it in your mind that there is something else you are looking for or your budget calls for spending less. We only met with 2 DJ's and saw a tape from a third, but if we'd only been able to see Spin Around then we still would have felt comfortatble with their ability and style. They were the choice for us and they did a great job.

Its not such a crazy idea, I booked SAS without seeing anyone else. I never really 'fell in love' with him, but was comfortable enough that they can play good music. But if you want peace of mind, check out Parameters, I've heard good things in this site about Eddie as well.

LI Sounds

I went to a wedding this past Friday that LI Sounds did, and I was not impressed. The music was way too loud for the size room, and the emcee kept interrupting the bride and groom when they were dancing or socializing to 'organize' a dance or a silly game. He had waaaaaaay too much to say, in my opinion!

For our wedding we only looked at one DJ- Body Rock. They were a house DJ and they were great. We went to their offices and then saw them perform at a bridal show, that was the selling point for us. Maybe you should see some perform in person. If you look into them we had Theo as our DJ and everyone loved him. I don't remember our MC's name. They do WHATEVER the bride and groom want. They will participate as much or as little as you want. Hope everything works out, Congratulations!! Good Luck

I used Big Hits Entertainment for my wedding two weeks ago. They were fabulous!!! We exactly the type of party we wanted. I would compare them to Body Rock--just a bit less $$$. During our search we met with LI Sound and were NOT impressed at all. Everyone there seemed very young and didn't seem too interested in what we wanted. They just told us how great they were.

I only met with 2 DJ`s - I heard such rave reviews about Spin Around Sound, I only scheduled to meet with them, and Body Rock. I didn`t like the fact that we only met with the sales person at Body Rock, so when I met with Tom White (SAS), we made our decision.

Coming from someone who booked many things based on first meetings (John Anthony`s, photo/video, flowers, even my dress), I can say the DJ search proved to be our biggest dilemma. But only because to me, the music was just that important. Sure, everything about the day is important to me, but the entire reception is going to be run by the DJ, and that`s a big task. We met with a few DJs, including Varity Music, Parameters and Spin Around Sound. We found Variety and Parameters at a bridal show, and chose to call Spin Around Sound based on all the positive reviews here. All seemed to be capable of giving us what we wanted, but we felt most comfortable with Parameters and Spin Around Sound, and finally chose to go with Parameters. Eddie Terryn, the owner/DJ just gave us a better impression. He seemed really proud and excited about the work he does, plus he quickly and confidently went through a preliminary list I had made of songs we`d like to use, telling us what would be great to use, and what we might want to reconsider. We liked his DJ experience and felt most comfortable with him. And he`s been so helpful in the months since signing with him. I`m sure based on all the good things reported here about Spin Around Sound you`d be fine with them if you`re comfortable from your initial meeting. There were no questions with us regarding those 'one and only' things. But if you`re having some doubts, you might want to just check a couple more DJs.
