dj...help
im looking for a dj with minimal mc'ing and a wide variety of music for all ages. I don't want someone obnoxious to force people to dance but just plays a lot of good stuff to get people going on their own.
any suggestions?

Im using tom from www.spinaroundsound.com
and was looking for the same thing...I think he fulfills it...
thank you. i've heard a lot about them on this site. Have you ever seen their work? About how much should i expect to pay?
I have been to weddings that had them and also saw them at a showcase. We just met with them yesterday and will deff be booking them. They have EVERYTHING!! and they go according to what you want! We priced around and found they were comparable but they also do a great job. Hope this helps. I dont have the number here at work so if you want i can post it tommorow if your interested. =)
I went on recommendations from this site last year...When I met with him, he showed my some video...although I didn't pay too much attention, b/c they want to show you their best work...What I liked the best was that he knew exactly what my music tastes were and gave me examples and was right on...
My package is 4 hours...3 people (MC, DJ and asst) no special effects (im an afternoon wedding) $1450...but I imagine the price goes up every year.
we went with tommytunes..they have down to earth mcees..you can call them and tell them the type of mcee you are looking for and ask for a video to watch that mcee at a wedding..or go and meet them in person!! it was important for us to meet the actual mcee and make sure we liked their personality, since they are an important part of the reception.

We are also using Spin Around Sound. After seeing them at my aunt/uncle's wedding last year I knew they would be perfect. Everyone had a blast (all ages were there). I told Tom that we wanted very minimal MCing so he suggested we use Rob (he and Tom did my aunt/uncle's wedding) who can do both the DJing and whatever lite bit of MCing that we need. I think we are paying about $1400 for 5 hours.

Great guy. Not much publicity on here about him. 10 girls I worked with used him for their weddings (word of mouth) and loved him then we saw him at the Manor East showcase. We loved his personality. He has great prices. We are paying $850 for DJ and Mcee for 5 hours. No lights or anything since we are getting married at John Anthonys (big windows) in the afternoon. However, you should give him a call and go meet with him. He works out of his home in Lindenhurst. The number is (631) 884-7123. Good luck.
I am using SAS - tom was really professional and organized. I have him for 4 hours I think and it's 1475 -
well, we customized our own package for lighting and things..so it was around 1,550 or so..but they have packages less then that.
Another vote for SAS...for 5.5 hours, middle of the road lightening, etc. I think we are about 1500-1600. I can't remember.
I thought they were the most professional of the DJ's I met with and they gave me the most confidence in their ability and that they will do what I want!
