dj help

dj help

I am getting married on long island but live in california..it has been a challenge planning the wedding to say the least. I just joined this site to get help on finding a dj. My venue suggests tgif entertainment. I called tommy tunes and the price seems right but the guy sounds a little cheesy.

I hate the usual wedding song nonsense...no chicken dance, no kool and the gang...if I could dj it myself I would. The music is very important.

Any suggestions....

Alot of girls on here use FM entertainment since they are reasonably priced. I am using Ultimate Sound DJ's since they specialize in Spanish music.

I am using Starlight Express and I HIGHLY recommend them. Ive seen them at other people's weddings and they are amazing! When FH and I listened to their sample CD on the way home from our first appointment, we made the decision right then and there to use them!

Re: dj help

We are using Variety DJ and are very happy with our guy (Ray) and the fact that they will totally listen to us regarding our do not play list and the music we want at the wedding. Also, my dad wears hearing aids and my step-mom is deaf in one ear and they are TOTALLY ok with keeping the music LOW which is what we request. I'm excited about working with them and suggest you give Ray a call. I'd be happy to FM you more info if you want.

We are using Jim McGuire, and I don't think he's associated with a DJ company per se. He's very responsive and knowledgable.

My DJ was awesome. I used Party Up Productions. They were recommended to me through our dance teacher. They were hardly mentioned on here when I searched for info on them so I was hesitant to book but I am so happy I did. They were so easy to work with and so attentive. The owner called my DOC so he could coordinate the timing for the day. They did such a good job and it was very cost effective. I highly recommend them! Link to their site

Phil from After hours is amazing. He also did my cousins wedding last year. He was TWOTY dj/mc and his website has actual video clips and samples. He is a vendor on here, so you can get all his info from the page.

Ohh goody I haven't met him yet but Frank says he is perfect for what I want at my wedding. I feel a lot better now knowing you met him personally. Was it the showcase @ Dante's??

Yup at Dante's. You should go to the next one so you can talk to him for a bit maybe he'll do a little extra spinning on your day lol.

I also hate the wedding cheese so I went with a former NYC club dj...he does not do the lights, plasmas, give aways, loud mcs, etc etc...his name is Gary Hoffman...if you do a search his site will come up...I thought his price was fine and he is so knowledgable about mixing music and what goes with what...he is great.
