DJ? how'd you pick yours?

so me and fh have no clue how to choose one. on their websites i dont see much that makes me say, this is the dj i want. so far we've only looked at dj's that our venue recommended. but its important that our dj can play a variety of music since our families are half west indian and half american.

how'd u choose yours?

I went to some demostrations at bridal shows and then met with the ones that I liked. We met with Ray at Variety and we knew he got exactly what we were looking for.

We haven't really made up our minds yet but I think I know who we are going with. We checked out 2 DJ's our venue recommended and it turns out that the 2nd DJ knows so many of my FH's friends! It's a very small world. Plus, they have hung out many times during the friend's GTG's. So, we are thinking that we should go with him besides, he is throwing in some free stuff like the ceremony and CH for free! (since we 'know' eachother). So far people have said good things about
him too.

Good luck!

We booked In The Mix. I found them on The Knot, and I was impressed by their website. They have the DJ profiles on the websites and I saw that they had options for all cultures.

Our crowd is like yours, half West Indian and half American. Our DJ is going to be James who specializes in Dance Hall music (funny enough, he's Asian). They also have a Trini DJ, African American DJs, Latino DJs, Rock DJs, and so on. I was really impressed by their diversity and David's (who's one of the DJs) initial presentation blew us away. You should go see them.

We also really liked Body Rock, but they were a bit pricey for our budget.

I think the best way is to see them at an expo... I wound up booking one of the recommended DJs at my reception hall but I saw several at expos or watched videos of them performing on youtube.

Went to showcases, met with them in person, but ultimately it was the feeling or vibe that we got off our DJ that made us book with them. I know lots of people from my neighborhood who have used our DJ, so I haven't seen them in person, but know close friends wo have and RAVE about them

i second this!!! in the mix was fantastic! we were very impressed with them, although we ended up booking with pierre lissade at djs unlimited. i saw him a few years ago at a wedding and has stuck in my mind as my favorite wedding dj so far.

I saw mine at a showcase- & knew off the bat which one I didn't want (one my brother used- who refused to play any requested song & was rude about it)...hope this helps!

FH's partner is BF with our dj, he hooked us up - and it doesnt hurt that he had awesome reviews and we liked him right off the bat :)
