DJ Lighting & suggestions

DJ Lighting & suggestions

Hi... i've visited only 1 DJ so far.. and I'm confused about what they mean by intelligent lighting... Do you really NEED this? Is your party better with this lighting? Do I need lights at all? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

I've already seen Bravura and I'm planning on seeing Steven Scott Orchestra, Platinum Productions, Hank Lane Orchestras, Tommy's Tunes and Long Island Sound. ...... does anyone have any good/bad things about any of these listed???

THANKS!!

We booked with Tommy's Tunes...I only heard great things about them, but if you book with them make sure you request an MC in your contract, either Frank, Joe or Joey (I believe those are the main MCs)....I heard of people getting other MCs that aren't regulars there and not have a great experience.

IMO, the lighting you chose should match the space you have and the atmosphere you are looking for. If you have a large dance floor in a big room, it can handle club-like lighting well. If you're in a small room with a small dance floor, the basic lighting package is fine. The more extravagent lighting may overwhlem the smaller space. If you want your dance floor to look like a club, go with the extra lighting packages that the DJ offers.

another cute touch is a personliazd gobo(kinda of a stencil for the lights) with you and your FH names and date in it..

like during you first dance together and throught the rest of your party.. most dj either have you pay what they pay or its a flat $200 not that expensive but a very personal touch

Thanks girls! That was helpful! I definitely don't want the room to look like a club so I may not have lights at all... I don't think any wedding I have been to had lights and I didn't notice... but I'll see what everyone has to offer. The gobo idea sounds cute!

I booked with Steven Charles. When he did the demo for me, it seemed like intelligent lightning was too clubby for me, so I did not book it. I used his regular light show

Re: DJ Lighting & suggestions

Intelligent Lights do make a big difference. I am having them for my wedding and I have seen them at several parties. Also, I was at a wedding that had Tommy Tunes as thier DJ and I was not happy at all. Maybe it was the MC they had but I found them not to do a great job. I am having a company called Feel The Vibe who have been in the business for years and who I have personally worked with myself. They are really good and energetic and know how to run a party.

I think you are both wrong. Better yet would you like a copy of my contract @ Leonards??? Or would you like to see my profile on The Knot? Let me know.

Sorry I am butting in here. You guys can't just ASSUME that every newbie is a Remember when you were new?? Try to give people a chance. I read her posts & I don't think she is pushing a vendor-just trying to be helpful. I hope I am not wrong.

Thanks I appreciate it. I am just giving my opinion. If they read my other posts maybe they would feel differently.
