We are using DJ because 1. we prefer to hear actual version of songs and 2. it fits our budget better. It's up to you though, some people really prefer live instruments.

We had completely intended to get a DJ. Then we heard a band showcase and LOVED it!!! It is a lot more money than a DJ but we decided that for us live music was better. HTH

We are having a band. This was one thing I def knew I wanted. More expensive but def worth it!!!!

We had initially planned to use a DJ because of the cost and we thought it was what we liked better. Then we went to a showcase w/ our band and we just fell in love.

From the begining we knew we would get a DJ. My DH side of the family is half Dominican and the other half is from Guyana (Caribean). My family is American-Jewish, but I am Colombian! So with all the wonderful music from each culture we knew that no band would do it justice.
We used a family friend and paid $750
