who do you think is responsible for getting the crowd going? when i met with a dj, they said it is really the dj and not the mc. i always thought it was the other way around. the mc would be the one to engage the crowd. but the company i met with said it was the dj - he would be the one that could get the crowd going if he could pick the right music..

I think it's probably a combination of both, one being more important than the other depending on the crowd.
No matter how good your MC is, if your dj is playing bad music, people aren't going to dance. Similarly, if you have a quiet crowd, the music could be fantastic but they won't get up.
For the people I'm inviting, I'd definitely say the dj. As long as there is good music playing, my friends/family will dance. They're almost embarrassing lol. But, if you have a more subdued crowd, then you'd want to look for a really good MC too.

It's the MC all the way. 1/2 the time the MC tells the DJ what sets to play (90's, disco, pop etc). Not the other way around.
Dep on how the party is going the DJ obv should have enough experience to know what songs to play next but the MC should have control over everything.

i def think they play a very important part in getting the crowd moving .....butttt i think the mc def gets the crowd moving more...if he is full of energy and is moving all around more ppl are gunna get up than if hes very dull and boring....if the dj is playing not the great of music you can always go up to him and tell him to change the genre and he will....you cant change a mc's personality but you can change the music

dj = plays music mc- gets the crowd going
my dj... what can i say..i love him, but im soo glad he has an mc lol. i cant picture him being the party starter lol.. as awesome as he is, he has never been a loud obnox! lol( i know youre reading this george!!!)

MC basically runs the show... DJ keeps the music going...but MC basically controls the DJ and the crowd.

I'm gonna have to go MC on this... I just came back from our down payment at LI Sound and a good portion of our conversation was all about how the MC gets the crowd going!
The MC is supposed to get the crowd involved but if they DJ is playing the music the people wanna dance to, people will dance on their own...

I'm going to say the MC. The DJ plays the music and the MC gets the crowd going. He goes in the crowd and gets people excited about being there. The DJ cant leave the DJ stand
