DJ - please help me make a decision on this!!

DJ - please help me make a decision on this!!

Plasmas or no plasmas?? I know its a personal preference and all that, but I cant figure out if its mine or not. Sometimes I feel like they add a nice touch, and then sometimes I feel like they are a bit sweet 16ish and may be a distraction? I mean, do i want ppl staring at a tv during our first dance? And what about the times that they arent throwing live pictures up there? Is the screen just blank? If so, whats the point? They arent cheap and i'm spending more money than i wanted to on the dj as it is..... but FH kind of likes them, which brings me to my next point....

Thoughts on a percussionist? This I really want. FH seems to not see the point of it and thinks its a waste, but said to get it if i want it. Is it worth it?

I almost feel like I have to either get both or get neither - only because i feel like it wouldnt be fair to get the percussionist without the plasmas - why should I get what i want and cut out what he wants? He said he really doesnt care either way, but i dont know......

I clearly need some help with this

I'm not into them for some of the reasons you listed....I do think of them as more of a sweet 16/mitzvah thing. JMO

i am having both the plasmas and percussionist! i always thought it was nice to show the pictures growing up and dating. it's a nice intro in my opinion. and i like the thought of getting all these random pictures of guests that my photographers might not get, b/c they are supposed to be focusing on me and FH.

and i love the idea of the percussionist. it definitely adds something to the feel of the music. obviously these are just my opinions. they did add more to our dj price, but i'm excited about it in the end! good luck choosing!

We went to a wedding where they did the zip cam, they showed the pictures during dinner of all the guests which were taken up until dinner. We all LOVED it! Everyone was cheering once they saw themselves, their friends, or the people at the table. It was a lot of fun and something different.

As for the percussionist...I thought I really wanted one too. I would check out the showcases first and make sure you really like them, my experience was that they weren't THAT great and not worth the extra $700 or so. This was after I went to a bunch of showcases and saw them live. Some of them couldn't even keep up with the beat, or you couldn't even hear them. Just my opinion, but it's good to hear all sides.

that is my exact problem we cant decide and dont know if we want to spend the extra $700 or so but the DJ i met with told me we dont have to decide now we can book them and add the tvs later on if its in our budget i personally like them its just a money issue with us...and i think people like seeing themselves on tv

to me---i'd say no to plasmas and YES!!!!!!!! to a percussionist.

we had a percussionist and i swear our guests were ga-ga over it. it sounded amazing with the music and some people said they thought we had a band when they first came into the reception room

Plasmas and lights are more sweet 16ish. My sister had a percussionist and a singer it wasn't worth the extra money. My girlfriends wedding she had lights percusionist and singers it was ehhhh. I'm just having a DJ and MC

I'm not doing the plasmas and we're definitely having the percussionist.

I really wanted a band but we couldn't afford it so I thought the percussionist would lend a little 'live music' to our wedding...

thanks so much for your help and opinions ladies. I swear I am so indecisive sometimes, i dont know how I would make these decisions on my own.

I think i'm gonna scratch the plasmas, and I am undecided on the percussionist, but now i'm thinking that it would be nice to have some strings for the ceremony? Just what I need..... another decision to make.....

i agree -- go w the percussionist over the plasmas.

although im sure ppl like both, i think tvs are a bit of a distraction that belongs at a less formal party.

I think the Plasmas are Sweet 16/Bar Mitvah-ish. We won't be having them at our wedding. It's all a matter of personal preference of course.

We wanted a percussionist, but, after all the money that we spent on our basic package with the lighting it was just too much extra for us.

I don't really see the point of them at all. Recently went to a wedding .. they had 2 and most of the time they just said the bride & groom's names and date. At the end they did a video montage and then posted pics from that night. Again, would not have missed it if it wasn't there.

Go with the strings for the ceremony--I think it adds a nice touch. I am not sure a percussionist is all that necessary either if the DJ is good.
