Re: DJ prices
I am paying alot but food and music/entertainment are the key elements of a wedding reception, other than the bride's dress, no one really remembers anything else.
3100 for:
-Ceromony music -Cocktail hour music -5 hour reception music -6 fixture intelligent lighting -Smoke machine -2 plasma screen tv's - photographer who will do pics from Ceremony, cocktail hour and reception which will be 'zapped' AKA featured, along with old photos of FI and I growing up on the plasma screens. -keep the photo dvd montage -DJ-who is also an owner of the company -MC-who is also an owner/founder of the company -Assistant I think there is more, not sure.
Went with Dash of Class, who's showcase I saw and loved! Not to mention the DJ's are also owners so you don't get some 'kid' who works for someone else and may not care.
We have gotten affirmations of their work from friends, stranger, other DJ's. We are so Excited!!!!

Vinny from High Voltage Sounds. We're paying $650. It's his most basic package- just him and an assistant. He'll be the dj and mc for the night. He brings basic lighting as well.
Ditto!

dj and mc, 4 hour reception $1800 body rock entertainment
Ours is $2100 for body rock entertainment with DJ and MC for 5 hour reception, and also ceremony and cocktail hour music.
we are only using them for the reception. basic lightning package, no giveaways.
There prices are good... body rock.. we upgraded the lighting cause I have epilepsy and I wanted the high lights not the ones directly in your eyes and we got the sinatra guy.. cause I love sinatra and so does my fam and his mom

hmph. we're paying $1000 for dj/mc. my friend's friend supposedly gave us a break, but now that i look at these prices i think we're getting ripped off since we're not getting any extras (i.e. lighting).
I am paying 1200 to a 'friend' just for 5 hours of music and a few lights. Rip off much?

Re: DJ prices
I am using Dash of Class too. They are mainly a Bklyn/SI/NJ vendor although they do have an office in Great Neck. LIW brides don't know much about them. But I have to tell you they are great, highly recommended and are not the typical cheesy wedding DJ company. They play awesome dance music and are geniunely great entertainers.
They came highly recommended by a few of our business associates, family and friends.
We are really excited!!! Great vendor!!

Re: DJ prices
$2K:: DJ/Emcee (we wanted the owner to Emcee, otherwise it would have been $1700), lighting, 4 hour reception and cocktail hour.
