DJ prices

Hello again everyone! It's the naive one here with yet another pricing question. My FH and I will soon be looking for DJs and are wondering, on the average, how much they cost for the reception. So far, from watching this board, I will be looking to possibly contact the following: Spin around Sound, Tommy's Tunes, Parameters, Hart to Hart, Big Hits Entertainment and Body Rock. Do these DJs vary greatly in price?? If anyone is willing to share what they are spending, I'd really appreciate it, or at least provide me with an average. Thanks in advance everyone...:)

DJ prices

The average I found shopping around was $1000. That was with Absolute Entertainment (who played at my friends wedding and I really enjoyed), and a few others (I think Spin Around Sound) was one of them. But that was a bit much for me. Our DJ is Domino Entertainment and they are charging us $650.

Marnles .. first things first...

You want to make sure you`re comparing apples to apples in regards to DJ pricing .. or anything else for that matter. There are so many options .. like how many hours, give-aways and amount of give-aways, lighting, special effects, and so on. We found prices can vary by several hundreds of dollars for similar packages. Of the three DJs we most considered .. Variety DJ, Parameters and Spin Around Sound, the prices ranged from about $1200 (Variety) to $1600 (Spin Around Sound).

DJs..

We looked at three companies..and for the package we wanted it ranged from 1,400-1600. Like Kel said..it all depends on what you want..5 hrs, 4 hours, what type of lighting is a huge factor..how many cd's the company owns..these all effect the price. We met with GIT..and were not impressed at all..we did not like how he bad mouthed a bunch of DJ companies out there..it just was not very professional of him..that is not the type of business we were looking to book. You have a good list of dj's to start with...you might want to check Invitation to Dance..they were our second runner up..good luck!!

DJ prices

When looking at a couple of DJs, we found that the 'basic' price (no overtime, no giveaways, no lights/effects) was around 1000, give or take. Once you add an hour, and even just a few giveaways and lights, the price increases quite a bit, some packages were around $2000. They also offer vocalists, live percussion, video screens, and if you want these things I am sure the price would be even higher.

Get In Tune

We really liked Glen with GIT- we thought he had good prices and knew what he was doing. Also he is one of the house dj's at our reception site so they know how to work the place. There number is 631.737.0025. It really depends on your style and what you are looking for :) Good luck!!

Marnles...

Hi... We're using Invitation to Dance. We're paying about $1,500. It includes Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, Reception and their Standard Lighting, not the basic, and no giveaways. My fiance thinks the giveaways take away from the elegance of the wedding. I have only been to weddings with giveaways, and everyone was having fun? It's up to you. I know in the packages if you don't want something they will substitute something or the price of the package will go down. They have a bunch of different packages. They only charged us $75 to do the Ceremony when other DJ's I got prices from charged $150-$250 to do the ceremony. I heard about them from brides on this board back in February. They were highly recommended. Good luck!

Stef98, How did you hear of Domino Entertainment? what's their style like? I need a 4Hr DJ for an afternoon wedding for less than 100people. I already have a harpist for the cocktail hour. Their $650 price range sounds perfect but I've never heard of them. Txs-SS

It's funny because the DJ was the first thing we booked besides the hall and we thought $1,500 was so expensive, until we looked into and booked the photographer and videographer. The DJ turned out to be the cheapest.

DJ prices: Fall bride

My mom heard them at a wedding. When I met with all the others and Domino came in so under I thought it was great. Especially since I knew my mom had heard them before. When I have spoken to them on the phone they have been very nice. I think Donna is the lady's name. She has told me that whatever we want the DJ's will do. If we need a more up beat, really crowd getter type MC then they will do that, or if we want them to be more or less in the background, then they will do that. $650 is for 4 hours, 2 person staff, light set up, fog machine, and audience participation dances. 3 dozen handouts (like leis) are included (you can add more if you want -- they cost about $3 - $13 for additional dozens depending on the handout). There number is 345-3584. Let me know if you need more info. GOOD LUCK!

Stef98, Thanks for the info. Is that a 631 are code? The price is definetly right . I'll give them a call and check them out. Thanks for the input. How would you decribe your style? Did you see a tape of theirs? Since mine is 4 hrs, i know the 1st hr will be jazz or soft tunes while eating and the remaining 3 hrs will be more upbeat but not like a shouting affair. With less than 100 people and it being a daytime wedding , i just need a DJ to be professional and play a nice selection. Any other suggestions appreciated or any more feedback you have on Domino. Thanks!
