DJ Question

Okay, I am familiar with DO and DON'T play lists. But do you know each song the DJ is going to play? I mean is there an actual play list? I just am 'afraid' b/c FH and I both like Hip Hop, Rap and Spanish music. I really like ALL types of music and want to make sure the DJ plays music to tempt everyone, not just us.

This Might be weird but I will be doing a don't play list which will only include the chicken dance but I will tell him to play whatever it takes to have people on the dance floor

See, I am sure other people's (on here) Don't Play list are songs we (and our families) are expecting...Chicken Dance, Y.M.C.A., I Will Survive... However...ABSOLUTELY NO MACARENA! At my brother's wedding in 1996 (when the song was at it's popularity peak) the band played it for LITERALLY 10 minutes! AND the Video has ALL 10 MIN!!!

I would love to have a scripted song list, but am afraid a DJ company will laugh at me for it!

A friend of mine got married two years ago, and she provided the exact play list to the DJ. She said that many DJ's wouldn't accept her strict orders, but she did find that some were accepting. She and her husband are music freaks, and they wanted a specific blend of music - so she made sure of it.

I'll probably give a selection of 'must plays' and 'don't plays', but I do want the DJ to be responsive to the crowd and atmosphere.
