Is anyone having just a regular DJ for their wedding??? Is it better to have an entertainment company instead of just hiring a DJ? Not sure if this makes any sense.
My reason for asking is we were going to Hire a friend of FH who is a really GREAT DJ but I notice everyone is using an entertaiment company and not just a solo DJ. Will take take away from my wedding?

Re: DJ Question
Can I add to this question!?
Most weddings that I have been to - big (150) or small (75) have only had 1 guy as the DJ/MC. Do you really need 2 for a party of 150 (like all the entertainment companys say)?

Re: DJ Question
We had a band, so I know this doesn't answer your question directly, but our band was not a 'wedding band' - they are a regular bar band and the dance floor was packed the whole time. If you like a particular DJ's style, I would go with it - make your wedding what you want it to be and not what a wedding 'should' be.

Yes thats a great question because I am worried that 1 dj may not be enough, I have been to a few weddings and I know there is usually an MC..someone to entertain the crowd. Which I dont think is necessary if your DJ is great. I am also having 150pp.

Re: DJ Question
I think you have to figure out your crowd of people and how much interaction you want. I've been to a couple of weddings where they only had a DJ and it was about 50/50. If the DJ is good and can entertain the crowd at the same time then go for it but if the DJ is more into just putting the music on then you're missing out on the audience interaction. I know for the people we are inviting that it is a very mixed crowd (some love to dance, some you have to drag to the floor) so we are going with a DJ and MC just because I'll be too busy on the dance floor and I'm going to need someone to drag the others out

Re: DJ Question
Ive been thinking about this same exact thing! Im not sure if I want to go with a fam friend bcuz it will be a lot cheaper or go with a big wedding company who is used to dealing with weddings.
Ive also been thinking if a mc is needed or not. Im having about 120 guests.. its a latin wedding.. we all love to dance as is.. plus a lot of the guests will be around my age so I dont know if I want to pay the extra cash just for a 'hype' man who prob wont be needed. Hmmm... decisions...

Re: DJ Question
Were having more of a club DJ and MC for our wedding. I have not seen any of the girls on here ever mention them. I would pick how fits you the best, since it is yours and FH wedding. If your having a lot of people or your family are not big dancers then you might want to get an MC also. Also I would make sure he has insurance since most halls won't let vendors work without it.

Re: DJ Question
Thank you Ladies, this information is very helpful. I have a crowd of people that love to party and the DJ will pretty much play a mix of everything that I know the crowd will like for the younger and older. I went to a wedding that he did and he really did a great job. I will be saving a chunk of money if I go with this DJ verses another company.
